I used to go through Pittsfield between my parents home in South Egremont and college in Bennington and never stopped to explore. Now I can’t wait to go and explore with your article and recommendations in hand! Sounds great

There's a really tangible sense of possibility in Pittsfield right now, which feels increasingly fleeting in larger cities. That's partly due to the economics of the housing market but Pittsfield also sits at the crossroads of several eclectic regions, and I have to assume that's a key part of the equation too. Hope you get to poke around it soon!

I kept this unread for a few days to make sure I gave it a good sit down read, and bravo! I'm already making plans to visit. If you ever need to pick a newsletter to submit for an award (is that how writing works?) this might be the one.

Thank you! I aim to replicate it in a handful of other New England cities this year.

Excellent article. I love mountain cities, having grown up near Asheville, NC, and really miss them!

Thanks! Did you spend much time in Jackson County? I got to visit the Cashiers area last spring and went for a killer loop hike in Panthertown Valley. Gotta visit Asheville itself ASAP.

Definitely spent some time up at Wolf Lake in Jackson County. Panthertown Valley is great, as is the area around Lake Glenville. Amazing part of the world. Sometimes I can't believe I left it! Asheville is a must. Did you visit Brevard? That's my hometown ...
